As the cast closing wheels on JD drills and planters, and Kinze planters wear and become rounded over, they are less efficient in closing the seed trench. We can recut your wheels and return them to nearly new condition. We reduce the diameter by approximately 2/3” and the weight by approximately 14 ozs. We charge $10 per wheel and we can do this job while you wait.

JD 1560 and early 1590 grain drills have a problem with the depth control shaft seizing up inside the outer shaft. We can re-machine the inner shaft, so grease can move along the shaft and lube the full width of this shaft. We have had customers with grain drills that all the shafts had to be cut out with a torch, because the shaft was not getting grease where it was needed. Our re-machining costs $15.00 compared to $70.00 for new parts.
We are also selling a lot of the new "VEE" type seed firming wheel.

Some JD 1560, 1590, and newer grain drills are showing signs of wear in the seed depth adjustment lever. You may find that the fork at the bottom of the cast lever (#AN 282109) is loose on the cross shaft. This allows to depth wheel to move up and down, changing the seed depth. Customers are finding that only a few levers are loose and some drills have all the levers loose. You must check all the wheels for movement to be sure that you do not have this problem.
OEM price on the lever is about $105.00 each, we can remachine this lever for $25.00, saving the customer $1,920.00 on a 15 ft drill with 7 1/2 inch spacing.

Some of our customers have had trouble with the fertilizer coulters with the rubber depth wheel seizing up inside of the blade shaft. This problem is only repaired by taking the opener apart and cleaning and greasing the shaft each year. We are offering a repair for that problem. We are able to install o-rings on the shaft to keep dirt out and a grease fitting to lubricate the shaft. The part numbers effected are AA35145 and A48724. We can offer this service for $27.50 per row.

Why pay $130.00 per wheel for spiked closing wheels. We can turn your cast wheels into spiked wheels. We tested our wheels this spring (2014) on a Kinze planter and JD 1590 drill with excellent results. If you don't already have cast wheels, we may be able to supply them, or maybe your neighbor has some setting around. Compare $600 for us to recut your wheels, or pay $3,120 for new after market wheels to fit your 15' JD Drill.
